The education atlas of South Africa 2005

The 2005 Education Atlas of South Africa was undertaken to provide tabular, graphic and visual education information to all interested parties: these include national and provincial education planners; central, provincial and local governments; the private sector; education NGO's, communities; academics and civic organizations. The intention of the publication is to provide useful information that can be used to identify urgent priorities and to bring about meaningful interventions. This information needs to be interpreted in the light of population relocation; the rapid change in the socio-economic development in the country and changes in the global arena where South Africa as a player is expected to perform. The education terrain in South Africa depicts the culmination of education development over 10 years in the new political dispensation for a democratized South Africa (The ten year review of education was used extensively to verify information used in the Education Atlas). The Education Atlas reports on the development that has taken place by drawing heavily on trends, over a number of years.
