About This Book

In Sweet Dreams, Carolee writes about androgynous rock stars of the 80s that she idolized growing up. She focuses on Annie Lennox of the Eurythmics and writes about trying to emulate her style and how when she tried to be different in middle school, other students made fun of her until she was shamed into being normal. How to Be a Lady is about Marissa's experiences growing up in the 80s, and how music videos on MTV influenced her life. She was especially impressed by Madonna and Salt-n-Pepa, who influenced her fashion choices. Both of these zines are enclosed in a handmade yellow folder with drawings on the front.
