Las patentes de invención mexicanas

Extensive historical study of Mexican invention patents from time of independence to end of Porfirian age. Identifies various socio-technical conditions that shaped fate of national patents. Examines patent invention as a socially configured phenomenon, based on three variables: institutional order for patent regulation, social groups that applied for patents, and fields of invention in which Mexicans were active. Also considers larger processes such as industrial promotion policies, circulation of technical knowledge, and nature of Mexican technology culture during period studied.
