About This Book

The present book graphically documents the architectural intervention of the former 19th century penitentiary building and now transformed in to the Art Center Centenario in the city of San Luis Potosí. The wining team lead by architect Alejandro Sánchez and integrated by a interdisciplinary collective presented their architectural project in an innovative way: a scale model created by wirrrika (huichol) artists in their traditional weaving technique and a project designed following 2 main concepts: the suitableness of the spaces and the restoration of the building. The new cultural space offers courses, workshops and graduate classes in stage arts, visual arts, literature, music, dance, new technologies, popular art and crafts. Includes a library, a book shop, a museum, an open air theater and other services.
