A faithful picture

"The letters form a valuable addition to early accounts of the Swan River Colony, describing it in its second decade of existence. They were written for the most part by Eliza Brown to her father, William Bussey of Oxfordshire, a gentleman of considerable means. The letters are outstanding in their description of a new colony and developing a new way of life there"--Back cover. Some of the letters were written by Thomas Brown (d.1863), husband of Eliza. The letters ceased in 1852, although Eliza lived until 1896.
