About This Book
One hundred years ago, twenty two men of the village of Appleton with Eaton, then in Berkshire, died fighting in the Great War. Two more were to die during the Second World War. All are commemorated on the village's War Memorial and memorial plaques in the Church of St Laurence.
This first special issue of the Appleton with Eaton History Group's 'AwEsome Histories' tells the stories of the men, and gives an insight into the small, rural nature of the village community in the early 20th century.
