Over the years, people have said to my parents [David and Elwanda Fields], "You must have a book written about your experiences." Others have even written to them asking for permission to write their story. But, we decided to do it together. So, here it is. The information in this book is from Mama's journals, which she has kept since the age of fifteen. Some names have been changed. I want to thank Papa and Mama for filling me in on details as I wrote. They re-lived stories as we talked. The THOTS are also from Mama's diaries. I have given credit wherever possible. But, many times she just had quotations and poems written down without authors listed. All Bible verses are from the King James Version. - Acknowledgements.
