Gunnel Wåhlstrand

Gunnel Wåhlstrand (b 1974 Sweden), one of Sweden's most critically acclaimed artists, has for many years worked exclusively with what could be described as a re-development of private photographs, using inkwash, a technique that she masters to perfection. Her body of motifs consisting of her family photoalbum, Wåhlstrand's depiction is a both deeply personal and universal process. The process of making this meticulously reconstructed documentation is painstakingly slow and physically demanding.
