This text examines the effect that the expansion of the Mexica had over the production, distribution, and consumption of gold objects in Mesoamerica. The book maintains the idea that gold products mobilized the economic, political and social mechanisms that reasserted Mexico-Tenochtitlan hegemony in the period immediately before the Spanish conquest.
