About This Book

The purpose of this book is to contribute to the study of the religious art of the Order of Preachers of the new Kingdom of Granada during the colony, compiling a set of approximations to their cultural heritage. The participating authors articulated their texts around critical and conceptual lines that allow to measure the uses of images at the time, doctrinal lines that legitimized its appropriation, and the influx of local and European artistic patterns. As a result of this publishing project, has been in historical context and theoretical in much of the art collection of one of the religious orders that contributed to the spiritual, social and cultural setting of the colonial society.
