August 2011, the journey: It was thirty years since i had visited the places in Karelia, Samulinniemi (Samuel's Point) and the house by Lake Pyhäsel-Kä. The experience of the journey set a thought process in motion. Origins and roots in specific places, do they matter? What effects can past events have when they are extended into the future? Do we inherit experiences?0The 'Cracks as roots' project has resulted in three exhibitions, was well as this catalogue, which is a summary and summation of the project.
