About This Book
This work explores the cultural policies in Mexico during Lazaro Cardenas's presidential term through the Departamento Autónomo de Prensa y Propaganda (1937-1939) to influence opinion abroad about Mexico with a comprehensive program of publishing, graphic production, films, plays and art exhibitions. The Cardenas regime used participation in fairs and expositions, particularly in the International Exhibition of Paris of 1937 and the exhibition Twenty Centuries of Mexican Art at the Musem of Modern Art in New York in 1940, to promote a certain image of the country.
