About This Book

<div>10" x 11.75" reddish-orange covered photo album. The golden spiral that holds the pages together is covered on the spine with the same reddish-orange plastic as the covers. The words "Photo Album" are written in gold cursive in the top middle of the front cover. The pages inside are adhesive with plastic covers and gold edging. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>This album was dropped off at City Hall for Rosemary Johnson, a CCHS member. However, there was no information given, but it did appear to be local and across the river. There is a unique photo of the Clatsop County Road Department on the 2nd from last page. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Because the first page of photos was loose, our archivist was able to see the back of the first picture of the young man - and the name "Soren Vincent Hagerup" was written on the back. He was born in Norway in 1899, and died in 1980. This led to further investigation of the Hagerup family, which led to Mildred Irene Andrews who married Vincent in 1921. They had two children, Betty and Robert. Vincent worked as a logger in his early life, then as a surveyor and civil engineer, and worked on the Court House in Astoria. He worked in the US Navy in WA, and died there in 1980. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>We also used the Astoria High School yearbooks to track down the graduation photo found on page 18 here of Aslaug (Alice) Hagerup, who graduated in 1921. Alice was Vincent's younger sister, also born in Norway in 1902.  <br /></div>
