About This Book

This autobiographical work recounts the story of Norman Cliff who was a child of missionary parents in China during the Sino-Japanese and WW2 wars. Cliff, along with over 1500 others were interned as Japanese prisoners of war and were held at the Weihsien "Civilian Assembly Center", a euphemism for the Japanese concentration camp. The story beautifully recounts how so many in the camp turned a bad situation into a survivable one...including the remarkable Eric Liddell, the "flying Scotsman" who had won a gold medal in the 1924 Olympics
