About This Book

Col.Jeromus Remsen, Major Abraham Remsen and Lt. Aurt Remsen lived on a farm in Whitepot, now known as Forest Hills, New York. Col. Remsen and Major Remsen had served in the British Army prior the War of Independence but were among the first in the area to become officers in the Continental Army. The family fought in the Battle of Long Island (Brooklyn) and fled to fight another day under General Washington's command. The Remsen family farmhouse is long gone but the site still contains the landmarked Remsen Family Cemetery and has become a New York City Memorial Park.
