A true story of the author’s life with his father, Sir Hiram Stevens Maxim, prolific inventor and genius, who devised the first efficient automatic (machine) gun. He also contributed to the development of the incandescent carbon lamp, automatic sprinkling devices, steam and vacuum pumps, and other inventions which greatly influenced modern life.
