This book is written from the African experience. It starts with the examination of mental health development in the process of growing up from childhood, through adulthood, to old age, followed by consideration of patterns of mental disease in Africa. It also takes into account traditional facilities which are available to practitioners in the field. In this revised edition, the text has been updated and topical issues like AIDS and vagrant psychotics have been introduced. There is also a new chapter on psychiatric emergencies.
