Herr Ivan et la question des sources

"This dissertation investigates the links between Chrétien de Troyes' romance Le Chevalier au Lion from the 12th century, the Old Norse prose translation Ivens Saga, from the middle of the 13th century, and the Old Swedish verse translation Herr Ivan, from the beginning of the 14th century. The starting point for the study is the earlier research that has dealt with the question of the source of Herr Ivan. Some scholars have claimed that Herr Ivan is a translation from the Old Norse saga, others have argued that it is a translation from the French, or a translation from multiple sources."-- P. [4].
