The John Couper family at Cannon's Point

John Couper (1759-1850) was born in Lochwinoch, Renfrewshire, Scotland. When he was sixteen he traveled as an indentured servant to America and arrived in 1775. He settled first in Florida and later Georgia where he became a planntation owner. In 1792 he married Rebecca Maxwell and they eventually became the parents of five children. Descendants live in the United States.
