Carne vale

The exhibition curated by Roberto Moreira presents illustrations, photographs, videos and objects that build the multifaceted mosaic of the best known Brazilian popular celebration. Divided into five thematic nuclei Carne Valeʺ follows the Carnival imaginary, exploring the diversity, creativity and the cultural richness of this popular manifestation from the late 18th century, with drawings by Portuguese-Italian Carlos Julião who portrayed the different racial and social types of the Portuguese Empire, to the contemporaneity of artists like Lygia Pape and Hélio Oiticica.
