Population estimates of counties in the United States, 1971-1974

Annual estimates of the population of all counties and county equivalents in the United States for the years 1971-1974 are contained in this dataset. These data were prepared by ICPSR from Current Population Reports published by the Census Bureau. Included are estimates of the population of each county and county equivalent (parishes in Louisiana, census divisions in Alaska, and independent cities in Virginia and Missouri), compiled by the Census Bureau with the assistance of designated state agencies in the Federal/State Cooperative Program for Population Estimates. In addition to estimates of the total population of each area in the years from 1971-1974, the dataset contains estimates of the components of population change from 1970 to 1974 (births, deaths, and net migration).
