About This Book

"The late 1970s and early 1980s saw a return to political art drawing outside the established art scene in Mexico. New media and techniques developed using stencils, mimeograph, blueprints, photocopies and rubber stamps as a means of reproduction. Felipe Ehrenberg was a prime influence in producing and organizing students and artists in producing these unorthodox publications. His efforts opened the field for more collective initiatives, for groups like SUMA, Proceso Pentagono, Entre Tierras, La Cocina Ediciones, No Grupo, among others. These groups emerged from different ideologies; some from conceptual art, while other had more to do with social or political concerns. From these groups came independent presses such as La Flor del Otro Dia, Tinta Morada, and Tres Sirenas. This collection contains material from this last group of presses and student collectives."--Dealer description.
