Lucy's fence

Pregnant, unmarried, and seventeen, Lucy Hargrove arrives in Oregon City with no idea what to do next. The sweet-talking father of the baby has vanished, it's 1951, and Lucy can't stay on her family's homestead in Idaho. Hettie, the owner of Gettman's Bakery, offers Lucy a job, giving fodder to small-town gossip, and threatening her own reputation.
