The book is an agumented and revised version of the chapter originally printed in "Guatemala: historia reciente 1954-1966, tomo V, Flasco 2013) devoted to the major painters of the past 60 years (1954-2014) in Guatemala including Rodolfo Abularach, Ingrid Klüsman, Roberto González Goyri, Max Saravia Gual, Rolando Ixquiac Xicará, Rina Lazo, Juan Sisay, Zipacná de León, Francisco Tun, Marco Augusto Quiroa, Luky Xocoxic, Roberto Cabrera, Elmar René Rojas, Magda Eunice Sánchez, Víctor Vázquez Kestler, and Efraín Recinos, to name only a few. One section is dedicated to Indian painting, particularly to the Art Schools of Comalapa, Atitlán and Totonicapán.
