Two Penn'oth of Poison

Rebecca Flower, the strong willed daughter of an affluent Miller, marries Thomas Worlock the semi literate son of the village butcher, against the advice of both families. Thirteen violent, alcohol filled years and three children later she believes she is trapped in a loveless marriage to a brutal drunkard. When Thomas begins to fall ill at regular intervals, usually after one of their cataclysmic rows, the neighbours begin to talk. When he begins to show signs of arsenic poisoning and later falls ill and dies in agony a week later they openly accuse her. Charged with his murder, she must fight for her life at the Gloucester Summer Assize of 1820. This is a true story written & researched by Penny Deverill, a direct descendant of Thomas.
