About This Book

Soren Herman Nelson, as he was called in the USA, was born in Copenhagen, Denmark 17 January 1848 and given the name Soren Herman Larsen. He immigrated to the United States when he was 14 years old with his parents, Lars Rasmussen and Geskie Anna Hermansdatter. Their names were changed to Nielsen and then Nelson after they arrived in the US. They came to the valley of Salt Lake City, Utah in 1863 and settled in Brigham City, Box Elder County, Utah. He married Mary Christina Petersen 17 Mar 1873 in Salt Lake City, Utah and they had 10 Children. The book details their lives and struggles in Brigham City to raise a large family and survive a frontier type existence.
