In the summer of 1979 two adventurers - Norah Davis, writer, and Joseph Holmes, photographer - set out in canoes from the headwaters of the Mississippi River in the spruce forests of Minnesota. Fourteen weeks later they slipped past New Orleans into the tropical bayous of the delta. More than a chronicle of their journey, The Fathers of Waters is a celebration of this great river.
