About This Book

"Book recovers over four decades of the artistic production of Teresa Velázquez (Mexico 1962). It addresses the process of gestation of her pictorial vocation and her formation. Likewise, it makes visible an intellectual and plastic construction process, for the understanding of some of the enormous challenges that await the artist in the new millennium; in particular, the conjuncture of having conceived painting in Mexico in the last decade of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. During the earthquake of 2017 an important part of the artist's work was lost when the the enclosure where it was sheltered. Therefore, the images in this publication are now unique witnesses, survivors of the tragedy. The text of the art historian and editor of this monograph, Luis Martín Lozano, is joined by the voices of the writer Marina Azahua and the art critic Carlos Palacios, to approach the work of Velázquez from a multiple and interdisciplinary vision.
