This work is a detailed and scholarly study, using the 9 codices remaining in México in the archives of Bilblioteca Nacional de Antropología and the of the curing and technical aspects of tanning of hides in Oaxaca and the uses of leather in the history of Mexico. One chapter devoted to summary of codices used in study and their physical condition.
