About This Book
A century of history of Nampa, Idaho. In 1885, Alexander Duffes took out a homestead on the land where Nampa is now located. The town was officially incorporated Semptember 8, 1886. Initially referred to as the "New Jerusalem" because Duffes refused to sell town lots to people who planned to build saloons, ironically, Nampa became home to a brewery in 1907. In 1919, the Pocatello, Idaho newspaper called Nampa "the Socialist center of Idaho". This book takes the reader from the beginnings of the town through the development of business, institutions, wars and the depression and beyond.
