Will the real person please stand up. From girls to elderly women - as in her new series 'Butterflies' : In Julia Peirone's intensely naked portraits we find an exploration what lies behind the the surface (vulnerability) but also a way to challenge the viewer's perception and expectation of what photography should offer. The subject / person's real self is often revelead in the off moment. In her still lifes, we find dead, wilted flowers and scrunchies with a few strands of hair.
