About This Book

As a teenager, Billy McCune was committed as "feeble-minded." Later, deemed "normal", he was released only to be arrested, convicted and sentenced to death for rape. When his sentence was commuted, just after the release of Danny Lyon's Conversations with the Dead, which focuses on McCune, McCune spent 7 years in solitary. Lyon encouraged him to write of his life and the penal system he had spent most of life in and this is the moving result.
