About This Book
On October 12, 1793, members of the Board of Trustees for the University of North Carolina met in Chapel Hill to witness the Brethren of the Masonic order lay the cornerstone. The ceremony included adding a plaque to commemorate the occasion placed by William R. Davie. After the procession, the Rev. Samuel E. McCorkle addressed the Trustees and spectators. An extract of that address is included in this article.
