A scarce title by this outstanding German photographer, less frequently encountered than most of his later works. The quality of the illustrations is exceptional. Lange (1898-1959) was an art historian and photographer who published a number of works that are primarily collections of enlarged photographs, usually with minimal text. They were intended to develop a wider appreciation for the aesthetic qualities of coins. This appears to be the first book-length work highlighting his outstanding coin photography.
