Memorias de la Amazonía by Luis Takanobu Shimabukuro, is based on the stories of his father, Seitoku Shimabukuro, an Okinawese immigrant, founder of the Catoo Minato Gakuen school, who at age 56 decided to give up everything to start one new life in the Peruvian Amazon. This is a chronicle of his hard adaptation to a new medium, exuberant but at the same time hostile beauty, of his endeavors and his search for elusive spiritual peace.
