A memoir. As a little girl, Martha never imagined that at age eleven she would have to take on the grueling journey of grief when her father suddently died. Mauch later, when Martha feels drawn to tackle the Ironman triathalon, she finds that enduring the hardships of this race are much like enduring the hardships of loss. Each one is a journey. Each one may feel like it's going to break you. But each one, in the end, can make you stronger. Martha takes us with her on a journey that tried her body to its limits, and at the same time she takes us on a journey into the past, where she searches for the man who was taken out of her life too soon.
