Explores how Swedish authorities treated Russian prisoners of war before they were deported back to the Soviet Union after World War II. The author studied hitherto secret documents that describe the handling of such prisoners in Luleå, Sundsvall and Gävle. In the book's second part, the author describes his adventurous travels behind the Iron Curtain during the Cold War, often traveling as a ski instructor.
