About This Book

It is a surgery book written by a specialist in that area, i. e. by Oreste Alexiu a former chief surgeon of the well known Gerota Hospital located in Bucharest Romania. The vagotomy is a surgery procedure i. e. to cut the vagotomic nerve in order to prevent collateral problems created by the stomach and/or duodenum ulcer. The above method has been used before the introduction in the clinical usage of the so called " Protons blocking drugs", which changed the purpose of the above surgical method, which can be now applied only in case of urgency. The author was a recognized and talented surgeon in the Gerota Hospital which he leaded for a while from 1960 up to 1978. Himself died on prostate cancer.
