About This Book

"Californian Cowboys" by explorer and photojournalist Carlos Lazcano Sahagún is the outcome of frequent excursions in the desert territory of Baja California. The photojournalist portraits the beauty of the Baja California landscapes of the central desert and the high lands of the mountains of the San Pedro Mártir and Juárez where cowboy related activities were introduced in the peninsula by the Spanish conquerors and the missionary friars more than 250 years ago. The author also documents the patronal festivities in different towns of the dessert and mountains - Santa Gertrudis, San Isidoro, Santo Domingo, Santo Tomás-, where the local cowboys still practice a daily work strongly related with horses, cattle and nature.
