About This Book

This study is a replication of a part of the 1968-69 survey of college and university faculty conducted by the American Council of Education (ACE) and the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education. In order to reflect the many significant changes in American education since the initial study, this reassessment was undertaken during the 1972-73 academic year. Included in the sample were 78 universities, 181 four-year colleges, and 42 junior or community colleges, their faculty size ranged from fewer than 20 to approximately 4,500. The collection includes information on the demographic and educational background, work history, description of current position, and opinions and attitudes of the faculty surveyed. The data are available on 344-character logical records in OSIRIS format.
