This is a the true story of Al Rivera, who was not the only boy who suffered from parental abuse and extreme poverty, but what makes his story unique was his daily determination to find food and shoeshine customers and to be positive with his life. He didn't whine, cry, complain, or daydream. He cheerfully went about surviving in a real world.
