About This Book

This study is concerned with the attitudes of bilingual teachers towards the culture of the Mexican American students involved in selected bilingual programs. The literature reveals that attitudes of teachers play an important role in the development of the self-concept. It is generally recognized that a positive self- concept is positively correlated with academic success.

The implications would then be to assure that the bilingual teacher's attitudes towards the Mexican American student are consistent with those attitudes that enchance the development of a positive self-concept.
