About This Book
This is a taxonomic monograph of the plant genus Myrceugenia of the myrtle family (Myrtaceae). Myrceugenia includes 38 species divided mainly between southern and central Chile and southeastern Brazil. Two species are endemic to the Juan Fernandez Islands in the Pacific Ocean west of continental Chile. A few species also range into parts of Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Three cases of hybridization between species are discussed. The work is based on a PhD dissertation completed at the University of Michigan in 1980.
