About This Book
Cataclysm Girl by high school senior Sarah Knowles is a personal zine containing prose journal entries, zine reviews, an interview with Colette of Looks Yellow Tastes Red, poetry, and listings of mix tapes. Knowles carefully pastes typed text over various illustrations, typically nature and plant-related scenes, and includes comics in her zine as well. Knowles uses her experiences to address themes such as eating disorders and heartbreak. Knowles's fellow high schooler Kimra writes Noodle, a perzine full of anecdotes about gas stations and her job at a milkshake shop. The stories are pasted over various blurry illustrations and cartoons, and are interspersed with short poems and prose pieces that draw from turbulent high school experiences. The tech savvy Kimra provides her ICQ and IM addresses.
