"Flying Red Horse is a book of poetry and lyric essay about growing up in a predominantly white area of Northeast Texas in the 1970s juxtaposed to the contemporary environs of Ontario. It looks at the precarity of relationships between people and place in diverse geographic and racial contexts; it addresses the crisis of climate change and adolescent revulsions to it; and it considers parental connections to children in uncertain global circumstances.
