Biography of Ma Qi (1869-1931), a Chinese muslim warlord who was commander of the Qinghai-Gansu region during the Qing Dynasty and later attacked Labrang Monastery among other institutions during the Chinese Republican period, though he is said to have had close relationships with several influential Tibetan Buddhist lamas, such as Terton Sogyal, Gurong Tsong, Labkyab gong from Yushu, etc. He served as governor of Qinghai from 1915-1928, and was father of Ma Bufang.
