A democracy built to last

A democracy built to last is a rare challenge to what has become a dogma in American economic and political thinking: economic growth as the goal of public policy. In reality it is unlimited economic growth in a finite world that is the cause of spreading disruption of the earthʾs natural balances and depletion of its resources. The author argues that our growth trends are not only unsustainable, they may not be survivable, but that we do have promising, sustainable alternatives.
