About This Book
A translation from the German of "Theorie der Linearen Wechselstromschaltungen" by German mathematician Wilhelm Cauer. This may be the only English-language translation of any of Cauer's works. John Warfield, the co-translator, has commented that the book was important when published, but much more has been done in non-linear studies since.
Cauer, an important mathematician in the early 20th Century, was shot by the Russians during their invasion in 1945. George Knausenberger, Cauer's student and colleague, came to America after the war and worked for the Ordnance Research Laboratory at Penn State, where he met John Warfield. The two worked on the translation together for a number of years.
