Cotton

Cotton is a gift of nature to meet one of the three basic needs: food,
cloth and shelter. Presently, Punjab is facing a serious and mammoth
challenge of depleting under ground water resources due to a large area
under paddy cultivation. Crop diversification is the need of the hour
in the State with cotton being one of the best fit for it. At the national
level, cotton is facing the challenges of lower productivity, insect-pest
resistance, diseases and physiological issues. ‘Cotton: Some Insights’
with diverse collections of topics from experts around the globe has
discussed many of these issues as well as included recent advances in
cotton. The joint efforts of the “Crop Improvement Society of India”
and the cotton team of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana has brought out this
nice compilation being dedicated to the diamond jubilee celebrations
of PAU. This book will be useful to the cotton researchers and
students as it includes prospective of cotton researchers across globe
