About This Book

A criticism by longtime trade union activist and socialist Myra Tanner Weiss of an attack on cosmetics and fashion made by Joseph Hansen (writing as "Jack Bustelo"), one of her comrades in the Socialist Workers Party. Bustelo sought to prohibit the women of the SWP from certain forms of dress, in accordance with his own bizarre view that women in 20th century American cities emulate pioneer women in Utah in the 19th century (Hansen was from Utah). Weiss carefully exposes Hansen's culture-based prejudices.
